About Dodger

Dodger is a 2.5 year old cattle dog mix that I adopted from Family Dogs New Life Shelter back in May 2013.  Dodger had been at the shelter for approximately a year, and prior to that, he was part of a Prison Pet Partnership in a Washington state women's prison.  Dodger battled some early illnesses following his neuter surgery, and unfortunately, wasn't the best socialized dog during those pivotal first months.  What I can say is that Dodger is definitely a sweet, loving boy, and we're taking his socialization training one day at a time.  He's already made remarkable progress when it comes to meeting new people and new dogs.

Dodger's photo above was taken on his first day home with me.  Clearly, disemboweling stuffed monkeys is an easy task for him.

About Dana

I'm a 40something woman living in Portland, OR.  I work in the digital marketing realm and am currently employed at a private university as their web communications director.  I've had dogs most of my adult life.  Prior to Dodger, I was blessed with two amazing dogs, Bean and Loon, that I raised from puppyhood (8 weeks).  Bean passed away in 2010 at the grand old age of 16, and Loon passed away in 2013 at age 17.  I've been blessed with wonderful dogs throughout my life, but I've also had to deal with my fair share of destructive behavior.   Adopting Dodger and his special needs has been a new challenge for me, but as Dodger and I bond, I've found that he's a remarkably smart and sweet dog.  I just have to be a little more patient with him.  In the meantime, I'm thrilled he hasn't trashed my house.  Yet.
